By plane : is the best way to get there, there are frequent flights from Tenerife North Airport every day and also (but less) from Las Palmas Airport.

From Tenerife North or Las Palmas you have to take a flight of Binter Canarias, there are between four and six flights everyday, depending of the season and the day. There are between one and two flights from Las Palmas to El Hierro everyday. So the best way is take a plane in Tenerife.
